Supposedly back in the day when Haley was in middle school and John was working as a lifeguard at a water park in Tulsa, Haley swears they met. John does not remember this, so let’s fast forward about 10 years. John and Haley met (for the second time) through a mutual friend while playing kickball in Oklahoma City. They got to know each other over the next several months and made it official towards the end of summer. While the beginning to this story is a bit comical, we believe it illustrates that God had already been at work planting seeds for a long time. We think about all the things and events in our lives that had to line up perfectly and at just the right time for everything to work out between us. We spent years praying for each other and right as John was about to hang up the kickball jersey, Haley joined the team. We both truly believe God had a hand in this from the beginning because finding the person you want to spend the rest of your life with has to be more than just a chance meeting. The proposal took place in Mykonos, Greece. Early on in their relationship, the two had expressed an interest in wanting to visit Greece one day. What was sold as a gift for graduating nursing school for Haley was also something much more. On the second day they were in Mykonos, John surprised Haley and took her to dinner on a dock in a small inlet on the Aegean Sea. Towards the end of the evening, John took Haley by the hand and read her a list of all the reasons why he loved her. He then got down on one knee and… put the ring on her finger without saying anything. Guess sometimes in some of life’s biggest moments you just go speechless. Haley (through a few happy tears) quickly says “well, aren’t you going to ask me?” After finding his words, the two spent the rest of the night on a beach under the stars celebrating with the friends who joined them on the trip. UPDATE REGARDING COVID-19** We feel it is in everyone’s best interest to postpone our wedding due to COVID-19 and have been given the opportunity by our amazing vendors to do so. We thank all of you for the immense outpouring of support and love we have been shown through all of this. At the end of the day, God’s timing is always perfect. We are learning that the joy is found in the journey and we are thankful to have each other. We’ll continue to pray for the safety and health of all and look forward to celebrating with everyone on June 28th! Same place, new date!
